CHEDDAR Spotlight: Mariem Chemingui Awarded Prestigious Mitacs Globalink Research Award
9 Dec, 2025

Mariem Chemingui, a postgraduate student at the 5G/6G Innovation Centre, University of Surrey, and part-time Research Assistant on the 6G-AI-FINESSE project within the CHEDDAR Hub at Keele University, has been awarded the Mitacs Globalink Research Award.
As part of this award, Mariem will undertake a visiting research programme at École de Technologie Supérieure (ÉTS), Montreal, where she will apply quantum machine learning to tackle complex optimization challenges in electromagnetic-field-aware integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) networks. Her research focuses on designing advanced beamforming strategies that boost network performance while reducing human exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF). By leveraging quantum approaches, Mariem aims to accelerate the development of next-generation wireless networks that are safer, more efficient, and more sustainable.
Her work spans EMF-aware beamforming, ISAC, and AI-enabled secure satellite communications. Mariem has already published in leading IEEE journals and conferences, and she is highly active in the academic community, founding the IEEE Student Branch at the University of Surrey and serving on technical program committees.
