CHEDDAR Takes the Stage at Connected Futures Festival
1 May, 2025

On 26 March, CHEDDAR researchers from Imperial College London and the University of Leeds took part in the Connected Futures Festival at Digital Catapult’s Central London headquarters, presenting their latest work on next-generation connectivity.
Professor Syed Ali Zaidi started the event with a keynote speech. He gave an illustrative overview of the trajectory of future cellular network architecture and provided examples of how Large Language Models could be used to optimise network security and performance.
Researchers Sarat Ahmad from Leeds and Michael Breza from Imperial presented a demo using mmWave radar to estimate a person’s pose and control a robot to imitate the human pose. A 5G OpenRAN network was used for communication between the mmWave radar and the robot.
Professor Zaidi demonstrated the use of several Large Language Models (LLMs) to monitor cellular network traffic for malicious behaviour aimed at degrading or disrupting communication. The LLMs detected the disruption and would choose the best network configuration to ensure good communication performance.
