CHEDDAR Hub welcomes Korean telecoms delegation to the Imperial College London

On 27 February, the CHEDDAR Hub welcomed a senior delegation of Korean telecoms operators, policymakers and standards experts to Imperial College London for a visit exploring collaboration in advanced connectivity, 6G research and international standards alignment.
The visit brought together 24 attendees spanning government, industry, academia and standards bodies from both the UK and the Republic of Korea, creating a valuable forum for dialogue on how research and policy can jointly shape the future of global communications networks.
A strong UK/Korea exchange on 6G and standards
The Korean delegation included representatives from leading operators KT Corp, LG Uplus and SK Telecom, alongside participants from the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA), the Korea Development Institute (KDI), KDI School, and Dankook University.
They were joined by UK colleagues from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) including Jasper Pandza, Head of International and Standards for Advanced Connectivity Technologies and Pamina Smith, Technical Standards Senior Adviser for Advanced Connectivity Technologies, Vodafone Group, BT Group, and a broad range of technical advisers and standards specialists with expertise across 3GPP, O-RAN and network architecture.
CHEDDAR at the centre of collaboration
The session was hosted by Professor Julie McCann, Director of CHEDDAR, alongside Online contributions were also made by Nikola Serafimovski, Standardisation Director at UK Federated Telecoms Hubsand Professor Harald Haas, Director of TITAN.
Looking ahead
The visit reinforced the importance of international collaboration in shaping the next generation of communications technologies. By convening policymakers, standards leaders, industry and researchers in one setting, CHEDDAR continues to play a key role as a bridge between cutting-edge research and real-world deployment.
